Local Liberal Democrats are fighting to save the evening train service to and from Charing Cross, via Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park.

The service is due to be scrapped next month, with a reduction in London Bridge evening peak services expected in May. The line serving Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park has been recognised as being one of the most overcrowded in London

Prospective local MP, Alex Feakes, says, "The East London line extension, which opens next year, was never supposed to be an excuse for cutting existing services. We've met the Managing Director of Southern, and have written to the Transport Minister asking for a meeting and for him to see, first hand, how packed the peak-time trains to our area are."
