30 Metre Charity Plunge for Lib Dem candidate

Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesman for Lewisham West & Penge Alex Feakes taking part in a sponsored abseil off the top of King's College Hospital for charity

Death-defying acts are not normally required for MPs and parliamentary candidates nowadays, even if the recent expenses row has seen all politicians - including aspiring ones - have been in the firing line. But nevertheless, Lewisham West & Penge candidate for the Lib Dems, Alex Feakes, has pledged to plunge off the top of King's College Hospital on 5th July as part of a charity abseil in support of local charity, the Voluntary Care Centre.

"It's a long way down and going over the edge always makes me nervous," commented Alex, "but the view will be magnificent and the adrenaline will be pumping; I'm looking forward to it, and it's a great charity to support!"

The event will see a number of sponsored abseils down the 30m tower at King's in support of the VCC. The charity, which covers the Forest Hill and Sydenham area, seeks to work with volunteers to provide help to those in need, such as driving to the shops, garden clearing, befriending or Christmas hampers.
