Forest Hill Lib Dem Councillor Philip Peake is pleased that the Horniman Triangle Play Park has finally got its new equipment

The new sandpit at the Horniman Triangle Play Park has been packed since it opened last Friday, and the Forest Hill ward councillors are pleased at its apparent success.

"The play park has been sad and neglected for far too long - ever since it was transferred to Lewisham Councilʼs control," says Cllr Philip Peake, "Iʼm particularly pleased that a government grant has been forthcoming to put in a popular facility, since the state of the park was the very first thing I opened my campaign with when I first became a councillor. Itʼs good to see that pressure pays off."

"This isnʼt it, though. The old toilet block still needs to be demolished, and the Mayor of Lewisham needs to make sure that money is available to put the swings back which were removed as part of the construction works. And there remains the state of the footpath along the Sydenham Rise side of the park: Lewisham Council needs to seriously engage with the Dulwich Estate and produce a blueprint for tidying that area up."
