Rumours of some months past have been confirmed with the release of papers which state that the Mayor of Lewisham is being advised to cancel the complex 'Chrysalis PFI4' project for delivering decent homes to 3,700 households in Forest Hill and Sydenham.

Forest Hill councillor Philip Peake (Lib Dem) commented on the news: "This is a disaster for our constituents as well of large numbers of residents in various other wards"

"In the rest of the borough, the Government's Decent Homes target of 2010 has already been put back two years. Residents continue to be let down - years of underinvestment and mismanagement followed by last years' moratorium on repairs is followed by this."
