Residents in Forest Hill are still waiting for the refurbishment of our pools, despite promises from Lewisham Mayor Sir Steve Bullock that the works would start this year.

The Labour council's incompetence led to the Pools' emergency closure in April 2006. Local residents have told us that they now fear years of bungled negotiations and delay, such as kept Downham Pools closed for nearly a decade.

Council officers are still working on back-of-an-envelope schemes which involve the replacement of Louise House. Your local councilors have been pushing hard to get the refurbishment underway.

• Meanwhile, the council has been sent into a panic by the Labour neglect of the the electrical wiring at the Town Hall. After it was found that some council staff could be in serious danger, some floors were emptied and a £3million plus emergency rewiring scheme instituted.
